The name itself is derived from Aegis, the supposed ultimate shield. Of course, the reason he chose his name as Aesis is:
1. Many people use the nick 'Aegis', 2. Aegis + Icicle = Cold Shield = Aesis
You can pronounce the name as [aei:sis].
[edit] The Player
Aesis was born in Seoul, Republic of Korea in 24th January 1987. His family moved to United Kingdom from September 1988 to September 1989 because of his father taking a Master's Degree in one of UK Universities. This would be repeated later from September 1997 to September 1998 when his father took another Master's Degree in the same university.
Later on, this helped Aesis to choose UK as his base of studying, and since 2000 April, he has been studying in UK. 5 years in a boarding school, 1 year in a '6th Form College' because he failed to take exams at the end of 2005 June due to health concerns. Now he is in University of Birmingham, reading Civil Engineering with Industrial Experience. (4 Years Full Time Master's Degree)
He likes to ski, and often skies in Korea during winter. He also likes to play Chess, and he hopes to beat a super computer one day =)

Aesis can be found in the LRS servers, playing with his favorite home team, the Global (+)'s. One of his favorite and oldest running gags is when he plays with lpzie and get's the response "Damnit Aesis!"
