Camping
From wiki.soldat.nl
Camping means staying in one place for a long time, often crouching or proning with a Barrett, waiting for enemies to appear, and killing them as soon as they come within range. Campers often hide behind bushes or other scenery in order to maximize the chances of killing without being seen.
The Barrett's longer visibility range when crouching or proning and its one-shot-kill feature make it the ideal weapon for camping. Indeed, camping with other weapons is usually hardly effective and mostly visible. An exception being those who spray like fools.
Camping is considered by many to be lame and is therefore generally frowned upon by a significant portion of the Soldat community. Several servers outlaw the practice and enforce a policy of banning users caught camping. However, camping is still an option for Soldat players and will always be considered part of the game; after all, real life wars were won by camping. Why not Soldat?
The following bit was posted by Nfsjunkie91 on the SoldatForums, and illustrates a positive view of camping, and how to combat campers:
Camping IS a legit tactic. Simply because someone decides to hide somewhere to get an advantageous spot does not instantly mean that the camper is a "n00b," but instead, is employing tactics that he/she thinks would benefit the team.
Camping does have its limits however. For instance, CTF, if the whole team camps and then doesn't bother to get up after the EFC, what good will camping do you? Also, even though camping is a legit tactic, it can be overused to the point of absolute frustration.
Counter-measures can be taken however. A good part of the time, campers are hiding in the same spot, often, there are a few choice spots that will almost always be used. Learn these spots. Even without consciously thinking about it, you are memorizing where these spots are. Remember, knowledge is half the battle.
