This is the player page of the (+) clan member Caphriel. For any other Caphriels, try somewhere else. This Caphriel is possibly the same as the other Caphriel, but unfortunately, he knows that he is not the only Caphriel using that name. If you know another Caphriel using that name, please let this Caphriel know so that this Caphriel can hunt the other Caphriel down and steal his name. This Caphriel wishes to be the only Caphriel. [edit] Stuff about the Caphriel
Caphriel likes to talk about himself in the third person. That is fortunate, even though it has gotten him kicked from #lrs for using the emote command a little too much, because a wiki article written in the first person would be somewhat odd, and Caphriel is writing this article about himself. In the mythical realm of Real Life, Caphriel is a student of computer science. He enjoys anime and manga, as well as RPGs and RTSs. And he likes to read.
[edit] The History of the Caphriel
Caphriel discovered Soldat in his freshman year of college, when he needed something to do in the computer lab between classes. Soldat was it. He mostly played LAN games with other computer science majors waiting out the two hour period between calculus and the next CS class, and shunned playing online because of M79 noobs. From the first day he discovered Soldat, Caphriel played realistic mode, and only realistic mode. Although these days he occasionally plays regular mode when there are no active realistic servers, he still prefers realistic by a significant margin. Back to the story, however... Caphriel started playing online when he discovered Leo's Realistic Servers sometime in his second year of college. However, he was very busy that year and didn't play much. That summer, however, he could be found playing occassionally on Leo's. By the beginning of his third and current year of college, Caphriel was a regular on Leo's, although not of the well-known variety. During that summer, Caphriel had picked up games called Urban Dead, and later Nexus War.
Somewhere along the line, these worlds collided with his Soldat experience. He ran into BlueWildAngel, a name he knew from Nexus War, on Leo's servers, and he eventually started a thread about Soldat in the "other games section" of the Nexus War forums, where he discovered that a member by the name of Darkwingstalker played Soldat on LRS. Caphriel PM'd him about soldat on the NW forums, providing a little information and asking about DWS's soldat playing. Darkwing replied that he was a retired member of the (+) clan, and asked if Caphriel knew of it. Caphriel replied that lpzie killed him a lot, and he was passingly familiar with the clan. Darkwing noted that lpzie and Penguin were friends of his. This was the first Caphriel had heard of the (+) clan.
In late January of 2007, Caphriel decided that he wanted to get more involved in the Soldat community. He started by joining the LRS forums (and at the urging of some members of the community that he respected, politely enquired to Leo about becoming a server admin. He currently regrets doing this, as he realizes it was silly, and somewhat embarrassing) and started participating. However, something was missing. Caphriel like being a member of the LRS community, but he wanted something more. He started looking at clans. During his time playing Nexus War, Caphriel came to realize that he really didn't have the time or motivation to participate in an organized, serious clan. But when he saw the description of the (+) clan, it was love at first sight. A Soldat family that was loosely organized and in it for fun? Caphriel was somewhat hesitant to apply, however, because of his relative newness to the metagame. However, Alice and Vilho encouraged him, so he went through with it. Caphriel now bears his (+) tag with pride.
In late 2007, Caphriel was too slow ducking responsibility. As a result, Caphriel is currently a server admin in Leo's Realistic Servers. He can now be found there abusing lamers and complaining about wasted admin calls in addition to dispensing bullet-shaped pwn. As a result of his new responsibilities, Caphriel found himself spending more time on IRC. He can now often be found in the Plus clan IRC channel on quakenet: #plus.soldat.
During the Great LRS shutdown of 2008, the Caphriel temporarily gave up Soldat to focus on his education. He made an abortive attempt at creating his own servers, but RL interfered, and he spent the next three months doing little but homework. At the end of the spring semester, however, the Caphriel eventually succumbed to the urgings of his friends and trigger finger, and returned to the world of Soldat. His playing time was limited over the summer due to an unfortunate occurrence known as "employment." However, he persevered and has now entered his final year of education. The Caphriel's playing time continues to be limited, unfortunately, but he does still play when he can.
[edit] Trivia about the Caphriel
- The Caphriel is referred to as the most handsome member of (+). As he is fairly certain that no member has ever seen him, he is unsure how this was determined, but he is not going to argue the point.
- The Caphriel is an unrepentant rugerwhore and spastard. Additionally, he enjoys using the M79, both for the pretty explosions and the screams of rage it creates.
- The Caphriel is capable of using any weapon reasonably well, and in fact sometimes picks his weapon randomly, but mostly picks based on the map. He can achieve a greater than 1.0 kill/death ratio with any primary weapon except the minigun (which is disabled on his favorite server), and he is satisfied with this performance.
- The Caphriel is a rusher. He does not like sitting around waiting for victims to come to him. He prefers finding himself a target rich environment.
- The Caphriel often engages in tauntwhoring with Drizzy, who does now have a wiki page.
- The Caphriel hates survival mode. He wants to play, not sit around watching other people play.
- The Caphriel is fairly sure he has killed Penguin in both Nexus War and Urban Dead, although he cannot verify this.
- The Caphriel can often be found playing trivia in #plus.soldat, however, he is always beaten by someone, because he lags...
- The Caphriel's name has a long and interesting history which he does not feel like explaining right now, but suggests would make a good conversation starter ;)
- The Caphriel persistently forgets to log in when updating his wiki page. However, this note serves as a reminder, thus creating a paradoxical situation wherein the presence of the note makes it false, but its absence makes it true. The Caphriel is pleased with this state of affairs.
