The Flamer is used to set other players on fire and is available after picking up the FlameGod bonus. The weapon's flames can light up corpses and enemies, whose flames dart upwards and in turn can spread to others for the temporary time they last. The user's alternate weapon can be switched to (the weapon held upon obtaining a Flamer becomes the alternate weapon, and the alternate weapon upon obtaining a Flamer vanishes), and the Flamer can also be discarded; however, unique to the Flamer alone, it disappears immediately upon throwing away. Strangely, it cannot be discarded when used online.

It kills pretty fast on short to medium range but is harmless to a skilled player who can stay at long range.

The Flamer has a bad reputation online as it is rendered almost useless in high ping between either player or both players.

Flamers are heavy support weapons. Designed to be fairly portable, the large fuel tank is locked into the rear of the weapon and provides stability and a brace for firing. The chemical flames are jetted at high pressure out of the front barrel of the flamer. Reaching ranges of up to 30 meters, the Heavy flamer lays down a scorching inferno and instantly ignites flammable materials. Fire-resistant materials will burn as long as the fuel remains on the target. As it is chemical in nature, water and smothering will not extinguish the flames.

A flamer is also a synonym (troll, moron, etc.) for one who constantly starts fights on forums or chat, usually with many vulgar statements, outright lies, and/or generally smartaleck- or extremely immature behavior.
