Michal Marcinkowski (mee-how mar-cheen-kov-ski) is the creator of Soldat. He is Polish and the little we know about him is extracted from interviews. Michal was 16 years old when he started programming Soldat.

He was born 05-24-1984 and lives in Nadarzyn (Poland).

(How we found out that he lives in Poland just from knowing his birth date remains a mystery.)

[edit] Looks & Personal Life

Michal has a beard and he has never ever shaved it, as we learn in one interview.

He can't tell the size of his biceps, indicating that he doesn't take biceps measures very often, but he says they're a lot. Besides programming, his life consists of studying and playing electric guitar. Once he's done with Soldat he plans to found a metal band and make covers of Soldat music. For relaxation he goes to bars to arm wrestle; he doesn't go to clubs because he doesn't like the music. Instead, he rather listens to 70s disco stuff. Michal's favourite composer is Vangelis.

Michal's favorite food is pasta and his favourite drink is milk. "Milk is good." His favourite Polish food is Polish bread rolls, whatever those might be.

M&M's are not the favourite candy of MM, he is been heard saying i HATE m&m's. Strange enough he loves chocolate. Some have concluded this must mean Michal hates peanuts but others think the specific combination of chocolate and peanuts poses the problem. Michal describes M&M's as some crap, dog food, covered in sugar.

Michal has around 6 computers in his house where he lives with his family. (One of?) his brother(s?) is called Maciek Marcinkowski. He's older then Michal and runs the monsoonix advertisement company. Two of those are in his room and there is also a server that he most probably manages as well.

[edit] Views on Gaming

Michal has revolutionizing ideas on computer games. He thinks there are really only a few good games and that the gaming industry is too preoccupied with graphics instead of gameplay. There aren't many good ideas in other games to copy, he says. Michal hates CounterStrike although Soldat is inspired by it. He thinks one dies too easily and has to wait too long for a respawn. He prefers Day of Defeat.

If Michal would not have started programming Soldat he would probably be programming better games, like a HL2 or Quake mod.

Michal has also released other games such as Crimson Glory, R, and the brand new Link-Dead. Link-Dead has just released its beta release and has had many ex-Soldat players try it out. As Link-Dead is technically still under heavy development, there are many faults in the game. It is also a 2D platform game, but is more strategical than Soldat.
