Monsoonix is an advertising company run by Maciek Marcinkowski. It is responsible for the small banner under the banner advertisement on soldats startup. Their website is http://monsoonix.com/. They have a small sdk that can put ads in games and applications.

Thus far soldat is the only thing for which monsoonix arranges the advertisement.

In the current version of soldat, soldat will not start or only after an extremely long time (more than 2 minutes) if the monsoonix servers are down. This even goes for people that paid for soldat and do not even see advertisements.

If this happens to you there is an easy way to fix it by editing your hosts file:

[edit] Win XP

to solve the problem open C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts with notepad and add the following new line:

  127.0.0.1 www.monsoonix.com 

[edit] Win 98/98SE

to solve the problem open C:\Windows\hosts with notepad and add the following new line:

  127.0.0.1 www.monsoonix.com 

It'll turn off the soldat banners (but not the startup screen so you can just as well turn it back on when monsoonix is fixed)

Or you could just turn off the internet when you open soldat and turn it back on when you want to play.
