[edit] History
2002
(SN) was originally founded in the second semester of 2002 by Sam and Nand. At that time an MSN-group was used to keep contact with other clan members. The clan managed to keep one active member, Mielos. Shortly after the clan became inactive.
2003
About a year later, Christmas 2003, new life was blown into (SN). Bodyguard aka Sativa was responsible for reviving the clan. (SN) recruited Serialkiller, Mangler, Grimlock, Carovnick and Scarecrow aka PQ in a short period. With this team, (SN) Participated in SCTFL3.
Another few months later Hanayo was recruited, followed by Real Rook, Coliques and MisterX.
(SN) managed to get in the SCTFL 3 play-offs. They were defeated in the first round by NS, but they quit and (SN) was allowed to go through to the second round. They managed to beat UJ in that second round and advanced to the third. Here (SN) was defeated by 2Wai in a very close game.
2004
Partisan and Olaf joined, whilst a lot of members left/got kicked due to inactivity.
2005
In may 2005 Steadicat was recruited. He was one of the many members that were left clanless after the death of BTK
2006
In SCTFL VIII, (SN) entered the playoffs, but was pitted against ES in the first round. As expected, ES moved on, and eventually won the tournament.
In 2006 Chaka Joined and left within a short period. Afterwards Vv00t (early march), Felix (SN) (mid-march?) and Enik (later in 2006) joined, and made the year be a very active one. Fall 2006 marked the turning point in that new activity however.
Up until SCTFL IX, the clan had largely ignored the SCTFL league, and had focused its attention almost exclusively on TNL and various cups such as TPC, IPC and so on. However, with Vv00t taking more responsibility in the clan, the internal politics shifted, and SCTFL became a bigger concern for (SN). SCTFL IX therefore was the first season that saw (SN) actually trying hard to do well in this league, and it seemed to pay off at first: Having finished the SCTFL IX freeplay phase on rank 11/85, the clan did make it to playoffs. Unfortunately, they lost the first round match against Apostate, despite having beaten them a couple of times during the freeplay phase.
Steadicat moved to Finland and subsequently turned inactive for unknown reasons. Then Felix got addicted to Guild Wars and wasn't seen again until spring 2007. Also, other core members like Denacke, RealRook and MisterX were slipping into inactivity yet again.
In TNL V, (SN) was relegated, for the first time since its creation, into TNL-B, after having been placed either 2nd or 3rd in each and every preceding TNL season.
Around Winter 2006 the only people ever to be found playing were the ever-active Vv00t, Hanayo and Enik, usually late at night.
2007
The result of those developments was that in march '07 Soldiers Nightmare found itself, again, looking for active new members.
Chaka (early march 2007) and Bernadinho (March 14, 2007) joined after a short recruitment campaign spearheaded by Vv00t.
However Chaka had to leave after only a few weeks, on April 08, 2007, due to irreconcilable differences between him and another (SN) player.
SCTFL season X was a quite succesful one: The clan finished freeplay on rank 9/128. In the playoffs, (SN) managed to move up to the round of the last 8, where they failed to advance against LP (which went on to play and lose to EF in SCTFL X's Final). In the preceding freeplay phase, (SN) had racked up statistics of 65-8-8, despite playing clans across the board.
Late in 2007, during SCTFL's 11th season, two trial members, Primitive and Kun, were recruited to fill some holes in the active roster, but both turned out to not be (SN) material after all; Primitive went inactive, and Kun regrettably turned out to be a faker (chaka). SCTFL's 11th season, despite going acceptably well for (SN), had a bitter end for the clan: The last weeks of freeplay took place during the Christmas/New Year time; unfortunately, 2 core (SN) members were away on holiday, thus making it impossible for (SN) to defend their playoff spot, as there were only 2 players present - too few to play any matches.
2008
2008 started with the new "PRE-TNL" Tournament taking place to determine new clans to fill some TNL-A and -B slots that had become vacant during the long pause since TNL 5 had finished in 2006. (SN), having been relegated to TNL-B in the preceding season, were trying their best to regain one of the precious few TNL-A spots in the PRE-Tournament.
In February 2008, with TNL-PRE still continuing, (SN) recruited their very first polish player: EmDzej.
(SN) finished TNL-PRE on 10th place, with stats of 4-2-1, thus not qualifying for one of the precious TNL-A spots.
However, the year 2008 was destined to become one of the most successful in (SN) history.
Chaka and Calp, both of German national team fame, were recruited around the beginning of SCTFL XII. Both players proved to be essential for the upcoming successes.
(SN) finished SCTFL XII freeplay phase on rank 7/127, with stats of 89-27-8. With a respectable playoff spot grasped firmly, (SN) finally seemed ready to leave their mark on an SCTFL season.
Between march and april 2008, (SN) also had participated in the new and ultimately doomed "International Soldat League", run by some North Americans. (SN) was somewhat successful in this new league, but it died before conclusion.
There were also two cups that (SN) took part in, in early 2008: The OXiD l33t cup (Oldies Edition), and the TNL-based TPC 6.
TPC went exceptionally well for (SN), as they managed to WIN TPC for the first time ever. They beat the clans R7, [NMS], OX*, {EF}, and AE/ in that order. The final against AE took place on June 23, 2008.
Not even one month after that however, the next big match was to be played: Having beaten <?)))<, R7 and #Dalton in the previous playoff matches, the SCTFL 12 FINAL between Seals| and Soldiers Nightmare was scheduled for July 14, 2008.
And thus, on that Sunday evening, (SN) once again wrote history, beating Seals in only 3 maps (2 win 1 tie), thereby securing the most important and most coveted title of the Soldat world.
It was also the first SCTFL final - and in fact may have been the first soldat match ever - to be televised via live videostream & commentary by Czech PG24.
The fall of 2008 brought a new season of SCTFL, namely SCTFL XIII. Finding itself in the role of defending champion for the first time, (SN) managed to pull of a very respectable freeplay result: (SN) finished on rank 5/107, with a record of 92 wins, 13 ties and 15 losses. The ensuing playoffs started in december 2008, and saw (SN) pitted against the much feared Chilean-lagpowered newcomer clan Omnipotent for their round of last 16 match. Having overcome that hurdle, (SN) moved on to battle the sctfl-admins of clan K2 for the SCTFL XIII Quarter Finals.
The (SN) history book was originally written by Denacke. Entries from 2006 forward were made by Vv00t. (which is why theyre getting longer and loonger and .. ;)
[edit] Origin of Clanname
The first meaning of SN was Sam & Nand the founders of SN. Shortly after, they decided to change it to Soldiers Nightmare.
